For today’s video of the day, we are proud to premiere the new music video of Canadian collective Twin River. “Laugh It Off” is a subtle stunner, an airy summer surrender with haunting harmonies from frontwoman Courtney Ewan and her co-part Rebecca Gray that caress and calm the wild edge of guitarist Andy Bishop. The song comes from the alt folk band’s debut EP Rough Gold, released this past July on Light Organ Records, and the video curiously was filmed inside an 1890s-era schoolhouse with grizzly bear art hovering over the band.
Twin River is made of excelled musicians who’ve ebbed and flowed throughout the music scene in Vancouver, including projects such as White Ash Falls, Yukon Blonde, Slim Fathers and Red Cedar. In addition to founders Ewan and Bishop, the full band now includes Gray (Mode Moderne), Malcolm Jack (Sun Wizard/Capitol 6) and Dustin Bromley (Pleasure Cruise, Keep Tidy).
Ewan says, “To me, the most impressive songwriter is one who is able to communicate a life story within three minutes.” And with “Laugh It Off,” she not only does that but has us clinging for the sequel.
