Theatre Within’s 34th Annual John Lennon Tribute is packing a powerful lineup, featuring the likes of Debbie Harry, Kate Pierson and Joan Osborne. Scheduled for December 5, the event will be held at New York City’s Symphony Space. Theatre Within is a grassroots non-profit organization that, in the past, has used the Tribute proceeds to support food drives, build music schools in Third World countries and aid natural disaster relief. This year they will donate the proceeds to the newly formed John Lennon Real Love Project: a mobile songwriting program for children and teens undergoing long-term medical treatment.
Osborne, who has performed at the Tribute no less than six times thus far, has been given a particular task: she will be playing the three songs from Lennon’s last live performance, which he sang with Elton John at Madison Square Garden on Thanksgiving night 40 years ago.
Tickets are currently on sale and available online anytime at LennonTribute.org or by telephone at 212-864-5400. The event will run from Tuesday through Sunday, from 1pm—6 pm. Ticket prices are $65, $85 and $105. A limited number of VIP packages are available starting at $150.
