Lizzo & Caroline Smith Collaborate for Women’s Group

We can thank the Twin Cities for bringing these music mavens together. Now soul sister Caroline Smith and rapper du jour Lizzo have announced a pretty stellar collaboration with “Let ‘Em Say,” a song the two friends wrote together along with producer Elliott Kozel that will benefit the Women’s Foundation of Minnesota.
“When we made ‘Let ‘Em Say’ we were so excited because the song was everything we had been trying to get off of our chest,” Lizzo explained to NPR Music. “We both have two completely different struggles, but the overall theme of independence is the same. We’re liberating ourselves as women in this industry and as citizens in this industry and as human beings, and we’re so excited to be able to share that with everybody.”
Smith and Lizzo will likely perform the song together at their double bill at hometown venue First Avenue in Minneapolis on September 27 if any of you locals want to hear it in the flesh. Everyone else, download the track at the duo’s Bandcamp page and wait for more info on this evolving partnership.
