Grammy Award-winning singer Natalie Cole, is following in her father’s footsteps with a new album: Natalie Cole En Español, a collection of much-loved romantic songs in Spanish.
Her father, Nat King Cole, was one of the first, if not the first African-American musician to record an album in Spanish, Cole Español. It turned into a huge success for Cole in 1958, and he later recorded two more albums in Spanish.
On her site Natalie states, “So happy to announce that my first Spanish-language album Natalie Cole en Español will be released on Verve/Universal on June 25. I’m passionate about Latin music and inspired by my father’s Spanish-language albums. Can’t wait for you to hear it!”
