Now, Now is by no means a new band (they began in Minneapolis as Now, Now Every Children in 2003), but in the past couple of years they’ve gained considerable traction, opening for acts such as The Naked and Famous and Hellogoodbye, having a song appear on an episode of “Grey’s Anatomy” and making their late-night debut on Jimmy Fallon.
Led by Cacie Dalager on vocals, keyboards and guitar with Bradley Hale on drums and Jess Abbott on guitar and backup vocals, their music effortlessly draws you in with a mixture of heavy guitar riffs and poppy melodies. Boxx caught their set in New York City recently where the band opened for Kevin Devine. Dalager jumped around the stage in her ripped jeans and work boots, fueling the energy for the show. Yet the stand-out moment of the night was when the fearless frontwoman jumped on the xylophone for the ending of “Oh. Hi.” The crowd ate it up shouting “Cacie, we love you.”
