Ana Tijoux’s music is just as colorful as the vibrant traditional garb worn by the street dancers in her video for “Somos Sur,” from her 2014 release Vengo. The Chilean emcee is a force in multicultural hip-hop and mixes authentic styles like gaita, cuatro and cavaquinho along with brass instruments and heavy beats to serve up a soulful mix. So much so that it caught the attention of “Breaking Bad” music producers who once placed her hit “1977” in the show, just a precursor for all the good she’s about to break into.
